== Biography ==
Oswald, who was nicknamed Osli was born in 1643. He was the son of [[Landis-620|Hans Landis]] and [[Bollier-23|Magdalena Bollier]]. He is not the same person as an older sibling, also named Oswald who died two years before on 27 April 1641.
Of the ten children born to Magdalena Bollier Landis wife of Hans Heinrich Landis three died in early childhood: Oswald [Landis-513], the firstborn died at age 8 on 27 April 1641. Anna [Landes-511], the fifth-born died at age 3 on 13 May 1643. Hans Heinrich [Landis-509] died at age 3 on 30 November 1648. The two boys (Oswald and Hans Heinrich) who died were "replaced" in name by later-born siblings. It would follow that Anna probably would have been "replaced" had a girl baby been born after Anna's demise.
At the dedication of baby Oswald also called Osli, the sponsors were: Oswald Hurliman and Barbara Baumann. The home/farm was Moosacher, Hirzel. Oswald is listed or identified in the Samuel Wenger book as 1.3.4a.8.7. Patrilinearly working back in time thus Osli was the seventh child born of the eighth-born of the first wife of the 4th child of the of the 3rd child of Johannes [Landis-132] and Katharina [Schinz-2].

Census Record for 1643 Moosacher: 1643 Hirzel census for Moosacher shows Hans Heinrich Landis and his wife Magdalena Bollier (Anabaptists in exile) and 5 children – Vereneli(10), Barbli(7), Gredi(5), Hans Heinrich(2) and Osli(1/2). {This census clearly shows that there is a second child named Oswald or Osli being the diminutive form now aged 6 months (1/2 - year). The firstborn Oswald born in 1633 would have been age ten.} It also does not show a sister, Anna or Klianna who was born and died between the census of 1633 and 1643.
