His father was Heinrich Bar (sometimes referred to as "Old Henry") who died in Earl Township in 1731 and has a profile at [[Bar-121|Hans Heinrich Bar (1663-1731)]]. His mother's name is not known at this time. He should be disconnected as her son.

She was the daughter of [[Hauser-132|Hans Hauser (abt.1614-abt.1678)]] and [[Ringger-1|Barbara (Ringger) Hauser (abt.1622-1708)]]. Although her mother was Barbara Ringger, she would not have had a middle name Ringger in the naming traditions of the time.
In her October 1998 article ''Bear Saga update: Part Two'', Best identifies her as the second wife of [[Bär-305|Hans Bär (1648-1715)]] and says this about her: "BA517 Hans Bär...m.(2) Jan.11, 1682 Barbara Hauser of Rifferschwyl; bu. Jan. 30, 1709; in 1678 aged 22; 10 ch. [?b. 1656; dau. of Hans Hauser (d. by 1678) and Barbara Ringger (b. 1722)]."
