==Research Notes==This profiled Jageli Bar, born December 30, 1683 in Hausen, should not be confused with [[Bar-177|Hans Jacob Bar]] who married [[Frederick-260|Barbara Frederick]] and settled on a large piece of land on the boundary between today's Upper Leacock and West Earl Townships, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He was also not the husband of [[Good-879|Fronica (Good) Bär (abt.1719-1774)]]. Her husband was Abraham Bär.
Jageli is included in Richard Warren Davis' 1999 book ''Emigrants, Refugees and Prisoners, Volume 3'', as part of his "Baer/Bahr/Bear Family A," the fourth child of [[Bär-305|Hans Bär (1648-1715)]]. He says that Hans "nor his children were ever called Anabaptists." Davis' entire entry regarding Jageli: "5184. Jageli Bar, b. 30 Dec 1683, Hausen. He was living at home at Oberalbis in 1709." [Davis. Page 32.] (Davis concluded that it was a third man, who has a profile at [[Bar-558|Jacob Bar (aft.1700-1769)]], who was part of "Family C," and was the brother of [[Bar-123|Samuel (Bar) Bear (abt.1683-bef.1743)]] named in Samuel's 1743 will. [Davis. Page 22.] But the evidence from land records makes it appear more likely that Samuel's brother was [[Bar-177|Hans Jacob Bar]].)
According to Jane Evans Best in the ''Groff Book, A Continuing Saga'', Jageli was a tavern keeper in 1709 in Ober Albis. She also confuses him with [[Bar-177|Hans Jacob Bar]] who married [[Frederick-260|Barbara Frederick]]. [Source: [[#S430]] page: 28 Accessed 25 Jan., 2024. Earlier version of profile included notes :* About 1701 married Ann Frederick in Switzerland - this has conflated Jagely with [[Bar-177|Hans Jacob Bär]].* Five thousand acres were warranted to land agents November 22, 1717. Much of it was surveyed in March 1720 to recent immigrants Hans Bar, Jacob Bar, Martin Bar, and Jacob Hooker. This land joined the land of Samuel Bar. These Bars were probably the sons of John Jacob Bar whose name was on the list of land transfers on the Conestoga in 1721. "Old Henry" Bar warranted 424 acres on the Conestoga river September 27, 1717. Jacob had 600 acres surveyed west of Hans Graeff the same month. Martin Bear was on the 1721 tax list. These notes were recorded from Jane Evans Best "Three Bears of Earl Township, Lancaster County, PA" and Pennsylvania Mennonite records. from Oct 1981 Pennsylvania Mennonite Heritage magazine PP 12-27* He apparently returned to Switzerland in 1720, as on Dec., 5, 1720, he participated in sale of uncle's dairy farm. (Source needed. It would be very unusual for an immigrant to return to Europe, and it is possible this claim has confused him with a different man of the same name.)
