These parents are based on the fact that Abraham acquired all of this land by June 10, 1741, as well as on various land transactions that he had with other likely children of Jacob - Samuel (profile at [[Bar-219|Samuel Bar (1705-1750)]]) and a Jacob Jr. who lived in Manheim, Lancaster County ([[Bar-217|Jacob Bar (abt.1714-)]]).

Abraham Bear was probably born about 1720. Jane Evans Best concluded in Volume 2 of the Groff Book (tentatively - with a ?) that he was the son of Jagely Bär (baptized December 30, 1683 in Hausen, Switzerland), and that Jagely was the man who warranted 600 acres in Leacock on June 21, 1721. But she does not provide the basis for this idea, and it is unlikely.[Best, Jane Evans. [[Bar-177|Hans Jacob (Bar) Bär (1677-1759)]], emigrated from Duhren in 1719 with his wife Barbara and eight children named Anna, Samuel, Veronica, Margaretha, Barbara, Jacob, Elisabeth, Magdalena. [ Burgert, Annette Kunselman. ''Eighteenth Century Emigrants Volume I The Northern Kraichau''. The Pennsylvania German Society. 1983. Page 432, citing research of Prof. Dr.-Ing, Herm. Lau of Karlsruhe.] So assuming that Abraham is another of their sons, he must have been born after the family left Duhren in 1719.
On June 10, 1741, Abraham Bear obtained a new warrant for a 441.58 acre portion of the tract in Upper Leacock that was surveyed for Jacob Bear in 1721. On January 28, 1746, Abraham and his wife Frena ([[Good-879|Fronica (Good) Bär (abt.1719-1774)]]) sold some of his land to Henry Bear, who has a profile at [[Bar-202|Heinrich (Bar) Baer (1715-1771)]]. On the same date, Abraham sold another portion to David Bear, who has a profile at [[Baer-294|David Baer (abt.1723-1763)]].)[''The Genealogy of Henry Baer of Leacock, Pennsylvania (Baer-Bear-Bare)''.] These two men were his brothers-in-law. Additional research is needed to confirm that they were also his brothers, which was the tentative conclusion of Richard Warren Davis, writing in 1999 (see below).
Abraham and Frena or Fronica are also referred to as married in the will of her father [[Good-2543|Hans Good (1672-1750)]], written January 28, 1748.
Abraham moved to Manchester, York County sometime before he wrote his will there on August 13, 1774. In it, he is called Abraham Bear. He names his wife Fronica and six children Jacob, John, Henry, Samuel, Mary, the wife of John Fetter, and Barbara wife of Isaac Sittler. Henry appears to have been the eldest son as he is given an additional share. Samuel is not to receive his share for seven years, mention is made for his schooling, and his brother John appointed his guardian, so he must have still been a minor. The executors were his wife Fronica and son John Bear. [?] Abraham Bear, b. c. 1721, d. 1783, Manchester twp., York County, Pennsylvania. He married Fronica Good (b. c. 1721), daughter of Hans Good (d. 1750). He was taxed at Lampeter Township in 1757. He patented 450 acres in Leacock Township on 21 Apr 1742 which had been originally 600 acres surveyed by his father Jacob in Jun 1721. The land was next to Henry Carpenter and John Line. He sold 149 acres of this land to his younger brother Henry on 28 Jan 1746 with the witnesses to the deed being Samuel Bear, John Jacob Bear and Sebastian Conyard. He sold 232 acres of the land with his wife Frena to David Bear in January 1747. He warranted 112 acres in Leacock Township on 11 Jan 1749 and it was patented to him. He and his wife Frena, Michael Sharer and his wife Magdalena and Isaac Bear and his wife Barbara sold 137 acres in Manheim Township to Michael Meyer on 4 Jan 1751. On 1 Apr. 1756 he and his wife sold to Christian Carpenter 97 acres (which was granted 13 Jan 1749 to him) next to Christian Carpenter's land in Earl Township but which was called Leacock Township when they sold to James Hamilton of Philadelphia 113 acres next to Casper Walters and Henry Carpenter (land which was granted to Abraham on 11 Jan 1749). He patented 220 acres on 9 Feb 1769 in Leacock Township which he sold to David Bear’s widow Anna on 3 Apr 1749. He was of Manchester Township, York County when he bought a lot in York Town from Joseph Freemiller on 15 May 1773. He was of Manchester Township, York County when he and his wife Veronica sold a lot in York Town to John Behr of York Town on 1 Jan 1774. He signed his name in German “Abraham bar." She was called Frainy Bear of Winchester Town, Frederick County, Virginia on 27 Dec 1792 when she bought 2 lots in Woodstock, Shenandoah County from Abraham Brubaker. There is a lot of information about Abraham in ''The Genealogy of Henry Baer of Leacock, Pennsylvania (Baer-Bear-Bare)'' by Willis Nissley Baer. Abraham is thought there to have been the son of [[Bar-177|Hans Jacob (Bar) Bär (1677-1759)]]. On page 21, Baer writes:
A very timely question is how were the four husbands of the four daughters of John (Hans) Good related. We can safely say that they were brothers-in-law. There is little ground to my knowledge by which closer kinship can be established. Abraham by reason of related evidence available was quite certainly a son of "600 acre Jacob" for whom the original survey in June 1721 was made. The identity of David I have not established. Unfortunately in the centuries since 1720 numerous records may have become lost or mislaid. There is also some doubt as to where John Bear who married Catharine Good finally had his residence. The following information is included because [[Bar-202|Heinrich (Bar) Baer (1715-1771)]] MAY actually be yet another son of Jacob Bar and Barbara Frederick, and a younger brother of this profiled Abraham (and his birthdate may be somewhat later than thought). Additional research and analysis is needed.
According to Willis N. Baer, [[Bar-202|Heinrich (Bar) Baer (1715-1771)]] was from a branch of the Baer family that is unrelated or only distantly related to [[Bar-177|Hans Jacob (Bar) Bär (1677-1759)]]. Willis N. Baer believed he was from Ottenbach, Switzerland, Reformed rather than Mennonite, didn’t arrive in Pennsylvania until 1739 (on the Lydia) and that his ancestors can be traced back several generations in Ottenbach. But '''NOTE''': Willis Nissley Baer's conclusions regarding Henry Baer (1715-1771) are disputed. According to Jane Evans Best, citing ''Die Auswanderung aus dem Knonauer Amt 1648-1750'' by Hans Ulrich Pfister, the Heinrich Bär baptized in Ottenbach on December 22, 1715, and his brother Hans baptized November 20, 1717 (or 1718?), could not have been the men on the Lydia in 1739, and probably went to Lehigh County, Pennsylvania rather than to Lancaster County.
