  [[Category: Hans Hess Family Cemetery, Pequea, Pennsylvania]] == Biography == Jacob Hess (b. 1706 in Switzerland, d. March 03, 1744/45 in Lititz, Warwick Township, Lancaster County, PA). He is the son of Hans (John) Hess and Magdeline who came over with the 1712/17 Swiss Immigration. Jacob had five children and was married abt 1730 to a Veronica (Bauer). Patented 200 acres in Warwick Twp on Sep 25, 1735 from William Penn, Jr. Tract was one mile east of Lititz in Warwick Twp. These 200 acres were farmed and owed by Jacob and his descendants from 1735 to 1922. Jacob's original house no longer stands. However, a log house built c 1744-1761 stands and was probably built by Christian and John, his children. A stone house also stands on the 200 acre tract, built c 1728 by John and Susanna Landis Hess. It stands some yards NW of the log house. Woolrich Hoover (Huber) came to Warwick Twp along with Jacob and farmed an adjoining 290 acres. Both were Anabaptists. Jacob was probably a deacon. Dr. Sowers was Jacob's physician. Because Jacob had no will, his oldest son received the homestead. Both Jacob and Veronica (his wife) are buried at the old log house homestead cemetery. 25 stones of the second to fifth generation remained in 1985.
