In 1771, Benjamin Hershey, Junior, and his wife Magdalena, sold a half lot on King Street in the town of Lancaster. They had purchased the land two years earlier. Benjamin signed the deed as Benja. In December 1776, Benjamin/Bentz Hershy sold a warrant for 100 acres on the Little Conestoga Creek to Jacob Brubacher for five shillings. On 7 February 1789, Benjamin Hershy and his wife Magdalen sold 160 acres of land in Hempfield Township to their son Christian, of Manor Township. Benjamin and Magdalen had inherited the land after the 1763 death of her father, Ulrich Rode. In 1803, Benjamin Hershey, who had become "the elder" after the death of his father, sold almost 245 acres of land in Lancaster Township to his son, Benjamin Hirshey the younger. The Benjamin of this profile had inherited the land from his father. It was comprised of two adjacent parcels, one of about 175 acres, the other of about 74 acres. Benjamin Hershy, Senior, of Lancaster Township, Lancaster County, signed his will on 6 October 1812. He signed his name as Bentz Herschi, and he referred to himself as "old and sickly." The will was proved on 8 December 1812.
